Partners of the Interreg Italy–Austria project BREATHING met in Innsbruck to review the first operational results and coordinate the next project phase.
Initial work included particulate-matter analyses, seasonal source interpretation, historical pollen data, ultrafine-particle campaigns in Innsbruck and Treviso, and first observations of volatile organic compounds. The meeting confirmed that the project had moved from planning into active measurement and evaluation.
The next steps focus on turning the observations into useful tools for air-quality assessment, forecasting and implementation of stricter European standards. Cross-border coordination remains essential because emissions, transport and exposure do not stop at administrative boundaries.
