Why Innsbruck?
The Inn Valley location makes it possible to investigate urban emissions and chemical transformation under pronounced mountain-wind systems. Several measurement levels connect the urban canopy with the overlying boundary layer.
Long-term data reveal changes over years, while intensive campaigns add targeted instruments and international partners.

Discover ACTRIS at the IAOMeasurement tower
The tower supports inlets, meteorological sensors and turbulence instruments. Fast concentration measurements are combined with three-dimensional wind observations to quantify vertical fluxes.

Reactive trace gases, greenhouse gases and volatile organic compounds.
Number, size distribution and secondary particle-formation processes.
Fluxes of heat, momentum, CO₂ and reactive trace constituents.
Pandora observations connect local measurements with atmospheric columns.
Collaboration & data
The IAO can support campaigns, instrument comparisons, method development and joint data analysis. The instrument catalogue and Lab Dashboard will progressively connect status, metadata and quality-controlled products.
